Barrel-Aged Prereleases and Mead Club Details
The first 3 meads coming from our barrel program are now available for prerelease. This means that you can sample and purchase them in the taproom room. In the next few weeks they will be available for purchase online as well.
Apfelhonigwein "Apple Honey Wine"
A traditional Cyser aged in a Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrel. Northern Spy apples pair up with wildflower honey and start to sing with the integration of the bourbon; notes of spice, leather, a touch of cocoa, a little smoke, toasty oak and vanilla cream with a hint of butterscotch.
Bienenstich "Bee Sting"
Inspired by the German dessert that shares its name. Dark wildflower honey, maple syrup, and brown sugar are fermented together before being aged in a Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey barrel and flavored with vanilla and almonds.
Höhepunkt "Culmination"
The culmination of a lot of mead mad science that has helped shape Waldmet Cellars up to this point. A mead made with organic wildflower honey, tart cherry, and lots of herbs & spices (16 different ones), then aged in a Templeton Rye Whiskey barrel. Think about it like the smoothest Manhattan you've ever sipped.
Kupfer Klub "Copper Club" Details
Most of you are likely familiar with copper mugs due to their connection to the Moscow Mule cocktail invented in 1941. However, copper has been used for thousands of years as a drinking vessel. Just as mead is likely the world's oldest alcoholic drink, copper is likely the first metal put to use by humans. Not only occurring as ores that can be converted into metal but as actual metal in the ground as well, combined with its malleability meant that copper could easily be shaped with rudimentary tools.
The history of copper drinking vessels, combined with the fact that they look pretty cool, are why we chose copper mugs for our mead club. As a member of the Kupfer Klub "Copper Club" you will receive your own copper mug engraved with the Waldmet Cellars logo. But what else do you get besides the mug?
